Los Angeles is one of the most diverse cities in the world – and home to millions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).  Every May, AAPI diversity is celebrated throughout the city and the nation during Asian American Pacific Heritage Month.

IDENTITY LA first launched in 2016. The fast-growing music, arts and culture festival recognizes the diversity of AAPIs’ rich and significant contributions to Los Angeles. With the support of the City of Los Angeles the festival has become one of the nation’s largest events of its kind, with past performers including Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, Awkwafina, Jay Park and Jhene Aiko. Beyond the concert, the festival honors AAPI leaders — like Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu and #GoodMuslimBadMuslim activists Taz Ahmed and Zahra Noorbakhsh — whose work has contributed to the vibrancy of the city. Last year, IDENTITY LA expanded to include culinary and arts exhibitions, which saw food & drinks curated by world-renowned chef Roy Choi, and a space for local designers and community organizations to showcase their art.
